This is my absolute favorite hardware store. It's a hardware store that actually looks & smells like a hardware store, not like a Walmart. You can tell the guys behind the counter have been there for years. They don't even have bar code scanners (that I've ever seen); they find all their prices by looking through one of many gigantic books hidden behind the counter, and it takes no time at all.
The place has everything. You need a galvanized, grade V bolt in the most bizarre size? They'll have it, and charge you a quarter for it. Service is top notch. It's a treasure to have places like this still around.

My favorite thing about this store is their hardware (nuts/bolts/etc). There's no searching though endless cabinets of pre-packaged stuff. Just walk up to the counter, explain to the guy what you need or what you're trying to build (and my projects are, to say the least, trivial) and he'll explain exactly what you'll need and even send someone to gather everything for you, even if it's only for 2 bucks worth of stuff.

I figure it's worth mentioning that I once sent my buddy down there with a 2-stroke engine to get some new studs to mount it. One of them had snapped off and was still stuck in the engine case. The hardware store actually helped him get it out and sold him some stud material for about $3. Let's see the person manning the self-checkout line at home depot do that!
